Here's a screen-grab from a .pdf scan of the November 1979 issue of Studio Sound, showing an image of an Ampex ATR-102 that has been fitted with an extra repro head (where the erase head normally goes - and having no record head), adjustable guide rollers for sending an advance copy of the program to a disk computer for a variety of tape speeds and turntable speeds, and two extra Audio cards - so, it has four channels, but uses two 2-track repro heads:
